Introduction:

In this mode you can explore a detailed 3D model of the human body, exploring individual systems and what they do. Toggle Mode to Quiz to test your knowledge of the body.

Instructions:

1. Manipulate the view:

Hover the mouse over any structure to reveal its name (or click on it if on a mobile device).
Drag on the 3D model to move it.
Use the mouse wheel or pinch controls to zoom in and out.
Use the rotation control at the top right of the screen to rotate the model.
Drag the slice slider to remove the front layers of the model, exposing the layers beneath; alternatively click the + and − buttons for fine control over the slice level.
- By default, the slice plane is fixed relative to the perspective of the camera, so as you rotate the model, different things get sliced as different parts of the model rotate through the slice plane.
- Tick the Lock checkbox to lock the slicing plane so that it rotates with the model.
Click the Reset view button to return to the default view.

2. Choose the model and system:

Select an option from the Model level drop-down. Options other than Everything display curated versions of the model where some structures are not shown, whilst others are given generic names and functions.
- Everything – displays the full level of detail in the model, with all structures named and given individual functions.
- Key Stage 3 (11-14)
- GCSE (14-16)
- A-Level Biology (16-18)
- IB Biology 3 (16-18)
Toggle the buttons under System selection in the settings panel to show/hide individual organ systems; click Show all and Hide all to quickly show/hide all systems.

3. Set model options:

Toggle Show functions to On so that when you hover over a structure (or click on it on mobile) it shows the function of the structure as well as its name.
Toggle Click to hide to On so that clicking on a structure will hide it, revealing structures beneath it.
- Clicking Undo will restore the last hidden item; clicking Reset will restore all hidden items.
- Toggling Effect on hiding between Invisible and Transparent changes hidden objects from completely hidden to just transparent, which can help you understand the context of structures better.
Toggle Modesty filter to Off to remove the pixelation over the penis, which is there for the benefit of younger students.

4. Filter structures:

The Filter structures panel at the top left allows you to fine-tune which parts of the currently selected systems are visible, showing or hiding groups (such as Left leg), sub-groups such as Left foot, or even individual structures.
Click the −/+ buttons next to each system’s name to minimise/expand the options for that particular system.
Under each system’s heading, you will see a series of groups into which that system is divided.
Click Show all or Hide all to show or hide all the groups in the system.
Click on an individual group’s name to toggle it between visible and hidden.
Click on the arrow button next to each group to bring up the Sub-group menu, which has similar controls to the previous menu.
Click on the arrow button next to a sub-group to bring up a structures window, allowing all the structures in that subgroup to be individually toggled on or off.
Note: On mobile devices, this window is hidden by default. Click on Structure filter to bring up this window and work through the options. Click OK when you are done.

5. Search structure:

The Search panel at the left of the screen allows you to search for individual structures by name.
Begin typing in the search bar; all structures whose name contains the typed letters will appear below.
- Note: You can use an asterisk character, *, as a wildcard such that anterior*artery would return both anterior branch of renal artery and anterior cerebral artery.
Select a searched item by either:
- Hitting Enter to select the top item.
- Clicking the name of any of the returned items.
- Ticking one or more checkboxes and clicking Confirm to select multiple items.
Select the level of context within which to show the searched items. Structures in the context will be displayed in ghost-form so you can see the selected structure and where it fits into the wider body.
Clear the search by clicking the Clear button.

Introduction:

In this mode you can quiz yourself on your knowledge of the human body. Toggle Mode to Explore to learn about the structures and functions of the body.

Instructions:

1. Select an option from the Model level drop-down menu.

2. Choose a system to test from the Quiz system drop-down menu.

3. Choose a sub-system from the Sub-system drop-down to test yourself on just part of the selected system.

4. Select one or more of the quiz types, if more than one is selected, you will be given a random question type each time.

Name the part – highlights a particular structure and you have to select its name.
Find the part – Names a structure and you have to identify which of four highlighted structures matches it.
Name to function – Given the name of a structure, you have to identify its function.
Function to name – Given the function of a structure, you have to identify its name.

5. Start a challenge:

This sets a quiz of length decided by you, and gives feedback on strengths and areas to improve.
Next to Challenge mode click the Start button.
Set the Number of questions and Question types in the following window.
Press Start to start the challenge or Cancel to exit.
Click the answer buttons to submit your answer, it automatically advances to the next question.
Click the Cancel button to escape challenge mode without completing it.

6. Set the options:

Toggle the Fade other parts toggle to On to make all parts other than the selected ones transparent, this can help make deeply-buried parts clearer on the test.
Toggle the Modesty filter Off to remove the mask from the penis.
